In our last blog we mentioned that our latest Learn to Knit course is due to start at the beginning of next month. we have decided to move the classes to Thursdays to make room for some great short workshops. The Beginner's knitting classes will now start on Thursday 4 February 10 till 12 and Fridays will now be spent learning new techniques or honing present ones. The first session on Friday 5 February will be about reading your knitting and correcting mistakes. Anybody who has done any knitting will realise that the stitches fit together in set ways and so the aim of the workshop is to help knitters see that relationship more easily so that they can knit a pattern more easily and rectify any mistakes . The short workshops cost £15.00/session but we offer discounts if you buy more than one so three sessions cost £40.00 and five sessions cost £65.00. Sessions can be booked from our shop page (deposits) or in the shop or by phone.
Our next Learn to Knit course for beginners starts on Friday 5th Feb.
It will run over 4 sessions of 2 hours each from 10am to 12 noon. The cost of the course is £45 including materials and light refreshments. The course is restricted to 4 places. You can book your place with a £10 deposit online, in the shop or by phone. We wiill teach you to cast on, work the two basic stitches used in knitting and cast off, shape your work with increases and decreases, essential finishing techniques and how to read a simple pattern. We will also show you how to choose the right yarns and needles to enable you to go away and knit a simple item. Course dates: 5th, 12th & 26th Feb and 4th March Lots of us like to start the New Year with a sort out and de-clutter. Is your yarn stash clogged up with lots of odd balls and part balls of wool that you just don't know what to do with?
Come along to the shop on Saturday 23rd January between 1.30 and 4pm to get some help busting that stash! We will be on hand with design ideas and techniques to help you match your yarn oddments to patterns. We are also hosting a stash swap - just bring along anything you no longer want and hopefully you will be able to swap it with someone else. And if there's something you really don't want any more, we'd be very happy to receive yarn donations for our new charity project - twiddle muffs for people living with dementia. So call in to our Stashbusting session to help you clear the decks - then you can choose yarns with a clear conscience for any new projects you have in mind. Date: Saturday 23rd January Time: 1.30 till 4pm Cost: £2.50 per person including refreshments |
