Not surprising you might think given our plans to open a yarn shop. But in reality, we've not had much chance to look at yarn until now – there were just so many things we had to do first.
So this week we're off to Craft, Hobby & Stitch International at the NEC to meet potential suppliers. The challenge will be to behave like sensible businesswomen when we feel more like children in a sweet shop! We'll let you know how we get on, and maybe give you a sneak preview of the yarns we will be offering... We are Ruth Moore and Jenny Watts - both avid knitters. We have been incubating a plan for a shop for a while now so are really excited to have just formed Ammonite Yarns!
Every day we are a step closer to realising our dream of a local yarn shop in Pontyclun, and we want to share some of the highs and lows we meet along the way with you. The real physical shop in Pontyclun will be opening in May 2015. We will source and sell gorgeous yarns for hand knitting and crochet, with an emphasis on natural fibres at a sensible price. We will also be running classes for beginners, advanced workshops and hosting informal knit and crochet social groups. Keep reading the blog for updates. Wales is rightly famous for its green hillsides covered in sheep. But would you believe it has a surprising shortage of yarn shops? Some of us look at those fields of sheep and wonder where all that wool goes...
