I tend to forget to blog about the everyday workings of a wool shop so I'll catch up a bit by talking about today. Tuesday is our Drop-In Day. We have knitters join us every Tuesday morning from 10 till 12 for tea, biscuits, knitting and a good old chin-wag and then Ruth and I have another group in the evening so we get even more biscuits and tea!
There are many amazing things about running a small local business and the support of our loyal band of knitters is one of them. What isn't so good is the excess of biscuits which means that many of the garments I have knitted over the past few years are now a bit of a tight fit! Newcomers are always welcome.
Our Saturday Knitting Masterclasses will be resuming in June beginning with Lace Shawls.
Saturday 18 June 10 till 4 pm Knitted Lace
Saturday 25 June 10 tlll 4 pm Beyond Beginner Knitting Two
Saturday 9 July 10 till 4 pm Knitting Garments from the Top Down
All sessions will be £65.00 including some materials and refreshments. There is more information on our workshops page and you can sign up by pressing the deposit button or by coming into the shop or phoning us.
We have a number of courses coming up at the shop, both for knitting and crochet.
11 June sees the first of two sessions taught by Gaelle, our crochet master and is based around a bag design. Gaelle will teach all the techniques to make the bag (pictured below). The price will be £60.00 for both days including Drops Paris yarn and a crochet hook.
It's our birthday today and Ruth has made a cake!
Drop into the shop before 1 pm today as customers will have the chance to join our prize draw for a £20.00 shop voucher and we also have cake!
It's hard to believe but we will have been open for a year on Saturday. We are not having a big bash as we had Local Yarn Shop Day last week but we will be having cake and there will be a prize draw for a £20.00 voucher. Added to this, Drops have just started wool supersale so there are big discounts on selected Drops yarns. We will be open 9 am till 1 pm so why don't you drop in and share some celebratory cake with us.
Welcome to our blog
Here we will share our experiences of running a local yarn shop in South Wales.
