![]() The promise of some of Ruth's maple, banana and pecan muffins got Greg and Peter in to start on the remodelling of our work-space on Sunday this week. Ruth's parents followed later with home-made biscuits and the work was well on it's way. Just clearing the space took some forethought as we needed to move it so that we can still access stock and trade as normal. Ruth had already made a good start transferring from the store rooms to the understairs cupboard -- I don't know what Harry Potter can have been complaining about as our stairs cupboard is cavernous -- you could easily fit a small wizard in! Greg and Peter did sterling work taking down a partition and everyone else was moving worktops, flooring, shelving -- they all worked really hard. Jenny got the easy job of playing board games with Elizabeth as she really is a bit small to help dismantle shelves. Now that most of the room has been taken apart, we've been able to plan what we need to build a kitchenette and visualise more easily the teaching/workshop space. Next, we send Greg and Ruth's mum to the DIY shop and then we can start painting, decorating and rebuilding. Hopefully most of it will be done before we go on holiday on the 18th and we'll be ready to open and celebrate our new workshop space in September. The shop is open as usual while we transform the back rooms. |
