![]() it's been a busy few weeks here at Ammonite Yarns. We've moved all the stock in the shop around to make room for new season yarns and are really excited about WYS Bo Peep baby yarns. It's a wool/nylon washable mix (52% falklands wool and 48% nylon) and is a dream to knit with. I've already started a jumper for my nephew which is knitting up beautifully and is very soft to the touch while knitting. The jumper has a fiendishly clever (and very easy) slipstitch pattern which looks amazing. Peter Pan Pixie is another new baby yarn that has arrived in the last month. It is a wonderfully soft acrylic yarn which is on my list to knit up too! Also new in is Stylecraft Special DK, Special Effects DK and Batik which are in the vanguard of our expansion into Stylecraft yarns so hope you like them all. Our drop-ins and classes have also been keeping us busy. RCT Young Carers Service have asked us to pilot some classes with them so tomorrow Ruth and our crochet teacher Gaelle are heading out with needles, hooks and yarns to spread the skills. Crochet seems to be more popular than knitting for beginner classes and I wonder whether this is because more people can 'knit a bit' before they come to us whereas crochet is often a completely new skill -- it would be interesting to hear your views on this. |
