5Evening and weekday classes
We run two levels of learn-to-crochet courses - Absolute Beginners and Intermediate. Each course consists of three, two hour sessions and costs £45.00 for the three weeks. The class size is restricted to a maximum of five. You can book your place online, by phone or in the shop with a £15.00 deposit.
The Absolute Beginners Course covers the fundamentals of crochet -- choosing a hook, the right yarn, how to produce the stitches and how the different stitches are made. You do not need any previous crochet experience for this course. Gaelle provides hooks and yarns for the first session. Optional - you can now order a beginner starter kit containing 14 sizes of hooks, wool needles, scissors and markers all in a small bag for just £10. Refreshments provided -- tea or coffee and biscuits.
The Intermediate Course is for those who already know basic crochet but want to learn more skills. You need to be familiar with simple crochet stitches including chains, double crochet and treble crochet. All three classes will include information on how to read crochet charts and pattern instructions.
Intermediate week 1:
In this class you will learn about crocheting in the round - this will give you the skills to make anything from baskets and hats to amigurumi soft toys.
Intermediate week 2:
Break free from crocheting in straight lines using increasing and decreasing techniques. If you've ever yearned to make a ripple blanket, this is the class for you!
Intermediate week 3:
The third class in the series is all about making irregular shapes and motifs such as flowers and birds. This will include following more complex crochet charts
